(יז) וַיָּ֖קׇם יַעֲקֹ֑ב וַיִּשָּׂ֛א אֶת־בָּנָ֥יו וְאֶת־נָשָׁ֖יו עַל־הַגְּמַלִּֽים׃ (יח) וַיִּנְהַ֣ג אֶת־כׇּל־מִקְנֵ֗הוּ וְאֶת־כׇּל־רְכֻשׁוֹ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר רָכָ֔שׁ מִקְנֵה֙ קִנְיָנ֔וֹ אֲשֶׁ֥ר רָכַ֖שׁ בְּפַדַּ֣ן אֲרָ֑ם לָב֛וֹא אֶל־יִצְחָ֥ק אָבִ֖יו אַ֥רְצָה כְּנָֽעַן׃ (יט) וְלָבָ֣ן הָלַ֔ךְ לִגְזֹ֖ז אֶת־צֹאנ֑וֹ וַתִּגְנֹ֣ב רָחֵ֔ל אֶת־הַתְּרָפִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר לְאָבִֽיהָ׃ (כ) וַיִּגְנֹ֣ב יַעֲקֹ֔ב אֶת־לֵ֥ב לָבָ֖ן הָאֲרַמִּ֑י עַל־בְּלִי֙ הִגִּ֣יד ל֔וֹ כִּ֥י בֹרֵ֖חַ הֽוּא׃ (כא) וַיִּבְרַ֥ח הוּא֙ וְכׇל־אֲשֶׁר־ל֔וֹ וַיָּ֖קׇם וַיַּעֲבֹ֣ר אֶת־הַנָּהָ֑ר וַיָּ֥שֶׂם אֶת־פָּנָ֖יו הַ֥ר הַגִּלְעָֽד׃ (כב) וַיֻּגַּ֥ד לְלָבָ֖ן בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֑י כִּ֥י בָרַ֖ח יַעֲקֹֽב׃ (כג) וַיִּקַּ֤ח אֶת־אֶחָיו֙ עִמּ֔וֹ וַיִּרְדֹּ֣ף אַחֲרָ֔יו דֶּ֖רֶךְ שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֑ים וַיַּדְבֵּ֥ק אֹת֖וֹ בְּהַ֥ר הַגִּלְעָֽד׃ )כד) וַיָּבֹ֧א אֱלֹהִ֛ים אֶל־לָבָ֥ן הָאֲרַמִּ֖י בַּחֲלֹ֣ם הַלָּ֑יְלָה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֗וֹ הִשָּׁ֧מֶר לְךָ֛ פֶּן־תְּדַבֵּ֥ר עִֽם־יַעֲקֹ֖ב מִטּ֥וֹב עַד־רָֽע׃ (כה) וַיַּשֵּׂ֥ג לָבָ֖ן אֶֽת־יַעֲקֹ֑ב וְיַעֲקֹ֗ב תָּקַ֤ע אֶֽת־אׇהֳלוֹ֙ בָּהָ֔ר וְלָבָ֛ן תָּקַ֥ע אֶת־אֶחָ֖יו בְּהַ֥ר הַגִּלְעָֽד׃ (כו) וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לָבָן֙ לְיַעֲקֹ֔ב מֶ֣ה עָשִׂ֔יתָ וַתִּגְנֹ֖ב אֶת־לְבָבִ֑י וַתְּנַהֵג֙ אֶת־בְּנֹתַ֔י כִּשְׁבֻי֖וֹת חָֽרֶב׃ (כז) לָ֤מָּה נַחְבֵּ֙אתָ֙ לִבְרֹ֔חַ וַתִּגְנֹ֖ב אֹתִ֑י וְלֹא־הִגַּ֣דְתָּ לִּ֔י וָֽאֲשַׁלֵּחֲךָ֛ בְּשִׂמְחָ֥ה וּבְשִׁרִ֖ים בְּתֹ֥ף וּבְכִנּֽוֹר׃ (כח) וְלֹ֣א נְטַשְׁתַּ֔נִי לְנַשֵּׁ֥ק לְבָנַ֖י וְלִבְנֹתָ֑י עַתָּ֖ה הִסְכַּ֥לְתָּֽ עֲשֽׂוֹ׃ (כט) יֶשׁ־לְאֵ֣ל יָדִ֔י לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת עִמָּכֶ֖ם רָ֑ע וֵֽאלֹהֵ֨י אֲבִיכֶ֜ם אֶ֣מֶשׁ ׀ אָמַ֧ר אֵלַ֣י לֵאמֹ֗ר הִשָּׁ֧מֶר לְךָ֛ מִדַּבֵּ֥ר עִֽם־יַעֲקֹ֖ב מִטּ֥וֹב עַד־רָֽע׃ (ל) וְעַתָּה֙ הָלֹ֣ךְ הָלַ֔כְתָּ כִּֽי־נִכְסֹ֥ף נִכְסַ֖פְתָּה לְבֵ֣ית אָבִ֑יךָ לָ֥מָּה גָנַ֖בְתָּ אֶת־אֱלֹהָֽי׃ (לא) וַיַּ֥עַן יַעֲקֹ֖ב וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לְלָבָ֑ן כִּ֣י יָרֵ֔אתִי כִּ֣י אָמַ֔רְתִּי פֶּן־תִּגְזֹ֥ל אֶת־בְּנוֹתֶ֖יךָ מֵעִמִּֽי׃ (לב) עִ֠ם אֲשֶׁ֨ר תִּמְצָ֣א אֶת־אֱלֹהֶ֘יךָ֮ לֹ֣א יִֽחְיֶה֒ נֶ֣גֶד אַחֵ֧ינוּ הַֽכֶּר־לְךָ֛ מָ֥ה עִמָּדִ֖י וְקַֽח־לָ֑ךְ וְלֹֽא־יָדַ֣ע יַעֲקֹ֔ב כִּ֥י רָחֵ֖ל גְּנָבָֽתַם׃ (לג) וַיָּבֹ֨א לָבָ֜ן בְּאֹ֥הֶל יַעֲקֹ֣ב ׀ וּבְאֹ֣הֶל לֵאָ֗ה וּבְאֹ֛הֶל שְׁתֵּ֥י הָאֲמָהֹ֖ת וְלֹ֣א מָצָ֑א וַיֵּצֵא֙ מֵאֹ֣הֶל לֵאָ֔ה וַיָּבֹ֖א בְּאֹ֥הֶל רָחֵֽל׃ )לד) וְרָחֵ֞ל לָקְחָ֣ה אֶת־הַתְּרָפִ֗ים וַתְּשִׂמֵ֛ם בְּכַ֥ר הַגָּמָ֖ל וַתֵּ֣שֶׁב עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם וַיְמַשֵּׁ֥שׁ לָבָ֛ן אֶת־כׇּל־הָאֹ֖הֶל וְלֹ֥א מָצָֽא׃ (לה) וַתֹּ֣אמֶר אֶל־אָבִ֗יהָ אַל־יִ֙חַר֙ בְּעֵינֵ֣י אֲדֹנִ֔י כִּ֣י ל֤וֹא אוּכַל֙ לָק֣וּם מִפָּנֶ֔יךָ כִּי־דֶ֥רֶךְ נָשִׁ֖ים לִ֑י וַיְחַפֵּ֕שׂ וְלֹ֥א מָצָ֖א אֶת־הַתְּרָפִֽים׃ (לו) וַיִּ֥חַר לְיַעֲקֹ֖ב וַיָּ֣רֶב בְּלָבָ֑ן וַיַּ֤עַן יַעֲקֹב֙ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לְלָבָ֔ן מַה־פִּשְׁעִי֙ מַ֣ה חַטָּאתִ֔י כִּ֥י דָלַ֖קְתָּ אַחֲרָֽי׃ (לז) כִּֽי־מִשַּׁ֣שְׁתָּ אֶת־כׇּל־כֵּלַ֗י מַה־מָּצָ֙אתָ֙ מִכֹּ֣ל כְּלֵי־בֵיתֶ֔ךָ שִׂ֣ים כֹּ֔ה נֶ֥גֶד אַחַ֖י וְאַחֶ֑יךָ וְיוֹכִ֖יחוּ בֵּ֥ין שְׁנֵֽינוּ׃ (לח) זֶה֩ עֶשְׂרִ֨ים שָׁנָ֤ה אָנֹכִי֙ עִמָּ֔ךְ רְחֵלֶ֥יךָ וְעִזֶּ֖יךָ לֹ֣א שִׁכֵּ֑לוּ וְאֵילֵ֥י צֹאנְךָ֖ לֹ֥א אָכָֽלְתִּי׃ (לט) טְרֵפָה֙ לֹא־הֵבֵ֣אתִי אֵלֶ֔יךָ אָנֹכִ֣י אֲחַטֶּ֔נָּה מִיָּדִ֖י תְּבַקְשֶׁ֑נָּה גְּנֻֽבְתִ֣י י֔וֹם וּגְנֻֽבְתִ֖י לָֽיְלָה׃ (מ) הָיִ֧יתִי בַיּ֛וֹם אֲכָלַ֥נִי חֹ֖רֶב וְקֶ֣רַח בַּלָּ֑יְלָה וַתִּדַּ֥ד שְׁנָתִ֖י מֵֽעֵינָֽי׃ (מא) זֶה־לִּ֞י עֶשְׂרִ֣ים שָׁנָה֮ בְּבֵיתֶ֒ךָ֒ עֲבַדְתִּ֜יךָ אַרְבַּֽע־עֶשְׂרֵ֤ה שָׁנָה֙ בִּשְׁתֵּ֣י בְנֹתֶ֔יךָ וְשֵׁ֥שׁ שָׁנִ֖ים בְּצֹאנֶ֑ךָ וַתַּחֲלֵ֥ף אֶת־מַשְׂכֻּרְתִּ֖י עֲשֶׂ֥רֶת מֹנִֽים׃ (מב) לוּלֵ֡י אֱלֹהֵ֣י אָבִי֩ אֱלֹהֵ֨י אַבְרָהָ֜ם וּפַ֤חַד יִצְחָק֙ הָ֣יָה לִ֔י כִּ֥י עַתָּ֖ה רֵיקָ֣ם שִׁלַּחְתָּ֑נִי אֶת־עׇנְיִ֞י וְאֶת־יְגִ֧יעַ כַּפַּ֛י רָאָ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים וַיּ֥וֹכַח אָֽמֶשׁ׃

(יז) וְקָם יַעֲקֹב וּנְטַל יָת בְּנוֹהִי וְיָת נְשׁוֹהִי עַל גַּמְלַיָּא: (יח) וּדְבַר יָת כָּל גֵּיתוֹהִי וְיָת כָּל קִנְיָנֵיהּ דִּקְנָא גֵּיתֵי קִנְיָנֵיהּ דִּי קְנָא בְּפַדַּן אֲרָם לְמֵיתֵי לְוַת יִצְחָק אֲבוּהִי לְאַרְעָא כְנָעַן: (יט) וְלָבָן אֲזַל לְמִגַּז יָת עָנֵיהּ וְכַסִּיאַת רָחֵל יָת צַלְמָנַיָּא דִּי לַאֲבוּהָא: (כ) וְכַסִּי יַעֲקֹב מִן לִבָּא דְלָבָן אֲרַמָּאָה עַל דְּלָא חַוִּי לֵיהּ אֲרֵי אָזֵל הוּא: (כא) וַאֲזַל הוּא וְכָל דִּי לֵיהּ וְקָם וַעֲבַר יָת פְּרָת וְשַׁוִּי יָת אַפּוֹהִי לְטוּרָא דְגִלְעָד: (כב) וְאִתְחֲוָה לְלָבָן בְּיוֹמָא תְלִיתָאָה אֲרֵי אָזֵל יַעֲקֹב: (כג) וּדְבַר יָת אָחוּהִי עִמֵּיהּ וּרְדַף בַּתְרוֹהִי מַהֲלַךְ שִׁבְעַת יוֹמִין וְאַדְבֵּק יָתֵיהּ בְּטוּרָא דְגִלְעָד: (כד) וַאֲתָא מֵימַר מִן קֳדָם יְיָ לְוַת לָבָן אֲרַמָּאָה בְּחֵילְמָא דְלֵילְיָא וַאֲמַר לֵיהּ אִסְתַּמַּר לָךְ דִּילְמָא תְמַלֵּיל עִם יַעֲקֹב מִטַּב עַד בִּישׁ: (כה) וְאַדְבֵּיק לָבָן יָת יַעֲקֹב וְיַעֲקֹב פְּרַס יָת מַשְׁכְּנֵיהּ בְּטוּרָא וְלָבָן אַשְׁרֵי יָת אֲחוֹהִי בְּטוּרָא דְגִלְעָד: (כו) וַאֲמַר לָבָן לְיַעֲקֹב מָה עֲבַדְתָּ וְכַסֵּיתָא מִנִּי וּדְבַרְתָּא יָת בְּנָתַי כְּשַׁבְיוֹת חַרְבָּא: (כז) לְמָה אִטְמַרְתָּ לְמֵיזַל וְכַסֵּיתָא מִנִּי וְלָא חַוֵּיתָא לִי וְשַׁלָּחִתָּךְ פּוֹן בְּחֶדְוָא וּבְתוּשְׁבְּחָן בְּתוּפִין וּבְכִנָּרִין: (כח) וְלָא שְׁבַקְתַּנִי לְנַשָּׁקָא לִבְנַי וְלִבְנָתָי כְּעַן אַסְכֶּלְתָּא לְמֶעְבָּד: (כט) אִית חֵילָא בִידִי לְמֶעְבַּד עִמְּכוֹן בִּישׁ וֵאלָהָא דַאֲבוּכוֹן בְּרַמְשָׁא אֲמַר לִי לְמֵימַר אִסְתַּמַּר לָךְ מִלְּמַלָּלָא עִם יַעֲקֹב מִטַּב עַד בִּישׁ: (ל) וּכְעַן מֵיזַל אֲזַלְתָּ אֲרֵי חַמָּדָא חַמֵּדְתָּא לְבֵית אָבוּךְ לְמָא נְסִבְתָּא יָת דַּחַלְתִּי: (לא) וַאֲתֵיב יַעֲקֹב וַאֲמַר לְלָבָן אֲרֵי דְחֵילִית אֲרֵי אֲמָרִית דִּילְמָא תָנֵיס יָת בְּנָתָךְ מִנִּי: (לב) עִם (נ"א אֲתַר) דִּי תַשְׁכַּח יָת דַּחַלְתָּךְ לָא יִתְקַיַּם קֳדָם אֲחָנָא אִשְׁתְּמוֹדַע לָךְ מָה דְעִמִּי וְסַב לָךְ וְלָא יְדַע יַעֲקֹב אֲרֵי רָחֵל נְסִיבָתְהוֹן: (לג) וְעַל לָבָן בְּמַשְׁכְּנָא דְיַעֲקֹב וּבְמַשְׁכְּנָא דְלֵאָה וּבְמַשְׁכְּנָא דְּתַרְתֵּין לְחֵינָתָא וְלָא אַשְׁכַּח וּנְפַק מִמַּשְׁכְּנָא דְלֵאָה וְעַל בְּמַשְׁכְּנָא דְרָחֵל: (לד) וְרָחֵל נְסִיבַת יָת צַלְמָנַיָּא וְשַׁוִּתִּנּוּן בַּעֲבִיטָא דְגַמְלָא וִיתִיבַת עֲלֵיהוֹן וּמַשִּׁישׁ לָבָן יָת כָּל מַשְׁכְּנָא וְלָא אַשְׁכָּח: (לה) וַאֲמֶרֶת לַאֲבוּהָא לָא יִתְקֵף בְּעֵינֵי רִבּוֹנִי אֲרֵי לָא אִכּוּל לְמֵיקַם מִן קֳדָמָךְ אֲרֵי אֹרַח נְשִׁין לִי וּבְלַשׁ וְלָא אַשְׁכַּח יָת צַלְמָנַיָּא: (לו) וּתְקֵיף לְיַעֲקֹב וּנְצָא עִם לָבָן וַאֲתֵיב יַעֲקֹב וַאֲמַר לְלָבָן מַה חוֹבִי מַה סוּרְחָנִי אֲרֵי רְדַפְתָּא בַּתְרָי: (לז) אֲרֵי מַשִּׁשְׁתָּא יָת כָּל מָנַי מָה אַשְׁכַּחְתָּא מִכֹּל מָנֵי בֵיתָךְ שַׁוִּי הָכָא קֳדָם אַחַי וְאַחָיךְ וְיוֹכִיחוּן בֵּין תַּרְוָנָא: (לח) דְּנַן עֶסְרִין שְׁנִין אֲנָא עִמָּךְ רְחֵלָךְ וְעִזָּךְ לָא אַתְכִּילוּ וְדִכְרֵי עָנָךְ לָא אֲכָלִית: (לט) דִּתְבִירָא לָא אַיְתֵיתִי לְוָתָךְ דַּהֲוָה שָׁגְיָא מִמִּנְיָנָא מִנִּי אַתְּ בָּעֵי לַהּ נְטָרִית בִּימָמָא וּנְטָרִית בְּלֵילְיָא: (מ) הֲוֵיתִי בִימָמָא אֲכַלְנִי שַׁרְבָא וּגְלִידָא (הֲוָה) נָחֵית עֲלַי בְּלֵילְיָא וּנְדַד שִׁנְתִּי מֵעֵינָי: (מא) דְּנַן לִי עֶסְרִין שְׁנִין בְּבֵיתָךְ פְּלָחִתָּךְ אַרְבַּע עֶסְרֵי שְׁנִין בְּתַרְתֵּין בְּנָתָיךְ וְשִׁתְּ שְׁנִין בְּעָנָךְ וְאַשְׁנֵיתָא יָת אַגְרִי עֲשַׂר זִמְנִין: (מב) אִילוּלָא פוֹן אֱלָהֵהּ דְּאַבָּא אֱלָהֵהּ דְּאַבְרָהָם וּדְדָחִיל לֵיהּ יִצְחָק הֲוָה בְּסַעְדִּי אֲרֵי כְעַן רֵיקָן שִׁלַּחְתָּנִי יָת עַמְלִי וְיָת לֵיאוּת יְדַי גְּלֵי קֳדָם יְיָ וְאוֹכַח בְּרַמְשָׁא:

17. Yaakov arose and placed his children and his wives on camels. 18. He drove all his livestock and all the wealth that he accumulated – the livestock and his possessions[1] that he acquired in Padan-Aram – to come to his father Yitzchak in the land of Canaan. 19. Lavan had gone to shear his sheep and Rachel took the figures that belonged to her father.[2] 20. Yaakov concealed from Lavan the Aramean’s heart by not telling him that he was leaving.[3] 21. He traveled with everything that he had. He arose, crossed the Euphrates and turned his face towards the Gilad mountain. 22. It was told to Lavan on the third day that Yaakov had left. 23. He took his brethren with him and he pursued after him a seven-day journey. He caught up to him at the Gilad mountain. 24. A word came from before Hashem to Lavan the Aramean in a dream of the night and He said to him, “Beware of saying anything to Yaakov, either good or bad.” 25. Lavan overtook Yaakov; Yaakov had spread his tent on the mountain. Lavan camped with his brethren on the Gilad mountain. 26. Lavan said to Yaakov, “What have you done, concealing it from me and leading off my daughters like captives of the sword? 27. Why did you go[4] secretly, concealing it from me and not telling me? I would have sent you off with joy and praises,[5] with drums and with harps.[6] 28. You didn’t let me kiss my sons and daughters! Now you have acted foolishly. 29. I have the power in my hand to do you harm but the God of your father spoke to me in the evening, saying, ‘Beware of saying anything to Yaakov, either good or bad.’ 30. And now, you have surely gone because you were sorely longing for your father’s house, but why did you take (the object of) my reverence?” 31. Yaakov answered, saying to Lavan, “I was afraid because I thought you might steal your daughters from me. 32. The place where you find (the object of) your reverence will not endure! In front of our relatives, identify what I have of yours and take it.” Yaakov didn’t know that Rachel had taken them. 33. Lavan went into Yaakov’s tent, Leah’s tent and the tents of the two concubines,[7] but he didn’t find them. He left Leah’s tent and came into Rachel’s tent. 34. Rachel had taken the figures, put them in the camel cushion and sat on them. Lavan rummaged through the entire tent and didn’t find them. 35. She said to her father, “May it not be vexing in my master’s eyes that I am not able to rise before you, because the manner of women is upon me.” He searched but he didn’t find the figures. 36. Yaakov became angry and he argued with Lavan. Yaakov answered, saying to Lavan, “What is my guilt? What is my crime that you have pursued after me? 37. You rummaged through all my things; what did you find from all your household objects? Put it here, in front of my relatives and your relatives, and let them judge between the two of us. 38. These 20 years I was with you, your sheep and goats never miscarried, and I never ate the rams of your flock. 39. I never brought you one that had been broken. If one was missing from the number, you exacted it from me. I guarded by day and I guarded by night. 40. So I was: by day heat consumed me and frost came down on me by night; sleep fled from my eyes. 41. These 20 years in your house, I served you: 14 years for your two daughters and six years for your flocks, and you changed my wages ten times. 42. If the God of my father, the God of Avraham and the One Whom Yitzchak revered, hadn’t helped me, you would have now sent me away empty-handed. My suffering and the toil of my hands were revealed before Hashem and He gave rebuke in the evening.”
