Kilayim 6:8

If reeds stick out of an aris (vines trained on a trellis) and the landowner refrains from cutting them, it is permitted to plant vegetables beneath them. If he didn’t cut them so that the vines should grow onto the reeds, then it is prohibited.

Kilayim 6:9

If a vine grows beyond the aris, we consider it as if a plumb line was hanging from it; one may not plant vegetables beneath it. The same is true of just one vine on a trellis. If one draws a vine from tree to tree, he may not plant beneath it. If the vine didn’t reach from tree to tree so he tied the end of the vine to the tree by using a rope or string, he may plant under the rope or the string. If he tied it in such a way that the vine could grow along the rope or string, then he may not plant under it.
