Parshas Eikev - Shishi

(י) כִּ֣י הָאָ֗רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֨ר אַתָּ֤ה בָא־שָׁ֙מָּה֙ לְרִשְׁתָּ֔הּ לֹ֣א כְאֶ֤רֶץ מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ הִ֔וא אֲשֶׁ֥ר יְצָאתֶ֖ם מִשָּׁ֑ם אֲשֶׁ֤ר תִּזְרַע֙ אֶֽת־זַרְעֲךָ֔ וְהִשְׁקִ֥יתָ בְרַגְלְךָ֖ כְּגַ֥ן הַיָּרָֽק׃ (יא) וְהָאָ֗רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֨ר אַתֶּ֜ם עֹבְרִ֥ים שָׁ֙מָּה֙ לְרִשְׁתָּ֔הּ אֶ֥רֶץ הָרִ֖ים וּבְקָעֹ֑ת לִמְטַ֥ר הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם תִּשְׁתֶּה־מָּֽיִם׃ (יב) אֶ֕רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ דֹּרֵ֣שׁ אֹתָ֑הּ תָּמִ֗יד עֵינֵ֨י יְהֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙ בָּ֔הּ מֵֽרֵשִׁית֙ הַשָּׁנָ֔ה וְעַ֖ד אַחֲרִ֥ית שָׁנָֽה׃ {ס}

(י) אֲרֵי אַרְעָא דִּי אַתְּ עָלֵל לְתַמָּן לְמֵירְתַהּ לָא כְאַרְעָא דְמִצְרַיִם הִיא דִּי נְפַקְתּוּן מִתַּמָּן דִּי תִזְרַע יָת זַרְעָךְ וּמַשְׁקַת לֵיהּ בְּרַגְלָךְ כְּגִנְתָא יַרְקָא: (יא) וְאַרְעָא דִּי אַתּוּן עָבְרִין תַּמָּן לְמֵירְתַהּ אֲרַע טוּרִין וּבִקְעָן לִמְטַר שְׁמַיָּא תִּשְׁתֵּי מַיָּא: (יב) אַרְעָא דַּיְיָ אֱלָהָךְ תָּבַע יָתַהּ תְּדִירָא עֵינֵי יְיָ אֱלָהָךְ בַּהּ מֵרֵישָׁא דְּשַׁתָּא וְעַד סוֹפָא דְשַׁתָּא:

10. Because the land to which you come to inherit is not like the land of Egypt out from which you have come, that you sowed your seed and watered (it) through your feet,[1] like a vegetable garden, 11. and the land into which you cross to inherit is a land of mountains and valleys, and drinks water from the rains of heaven. 12. It is a land that Hashem your God seeks; the eyes of Hashem your God are always on it from the beginning of the year and until the end of the year.

(יג) וְהָיָ֗ה אִם־שָׁמֹ֤עַ תִּשְׁמְעוּ֙ אֶל־מִצְוֺתַ֔י אֲשֶׁ֧ר אָנֹכִ֛י מְצַוֶּ֥ה אֶתְכֶ֖ם הַיּ֑וֹם לְאַהֲבָ֞ה אֶת־יְהֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם֙ וּלְעׇבְד֔וֹ בְּכׇל־לְבַבְכֶ֖ם וּבְכׇל־נַפְשְׁכֶֽם׃ (יד) וְנָתַתִּ֧י מְטַֽר־אַרְצְכֶ֛ם בְּעִתּ֖וֹ יוֹרֶ֣ה וּמַלְק֑וֹשׁ וְאָסַפְתָּ֣ דְגָנֶ֔ךָ וְתִירֹֽשְׁךָ֖ וְיִצְהָרֶֽךָ׃ (טו) וְנָתַתִּ֛י עֵ֥שֶׂב בְּשָׂדְךָ֖ לִבְהֶמְתֶּ֑ךָ וְאָכַלְתָּ֖ וְשָׂבָֽעְתָּ׃ (טז) הִשָּֽׁמְר֣וּ לָכֶ֔ם פֶּ֥ן יִפְתֶּ֖ה לְבַבְכֶ֑ם וְסַרְתֶּ֗ם וַעֲבַדְתֶּם֙ אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֔ים וְהִשְׁתַּחֲוִיתֶ֖ם לָהֶֽם׃ (יז) וְחָרָ֨ה אַף־יְהֹוָ֜ה בָּכֶ֗ם וְעָצַ֤ר אֶת־הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ וְלֹֽא־יִהְיֶ֣ה מָטָ֔ר וְהָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה לֹ֥א תִתֵּ֖ן אֶת־יְבוּלָ֑הּ וַאֲבַדְתֶּ֣ם מְהֵרָ֗ה מֵעַל֙ הָאָ֣רֶץ הַטֹּבָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה נֹתֵ֥ן לָכֶֽם׃ (יח) וְשַׂמְתֶּם֙ אֶת־דְּבָרַ֣י אֵ֔לֶּה עַל־לְבַבְכֶ֖ם וְעַֽל־נַפְשְׁכֶ֑ם וּקְשַׁרְתֶּ֨ם אֹתָ֤ם לְאוֹת֙ עַל־יֶדְכֶ֔ם וְהָי֥וּ לְטוֹטָפֹ֖ת בֵּ֥ין עֵינֵיכֶֽם׃ (יט) וְלִמַּדְתֶּ֥ם אֹתָ֛ם אֶת־בְּנֵיכֶ֖ם לְדַבֵּ֣ר בָּ֑ם בְּשִׁבְתְּךָ֤ בְּבֵיתֶ֙ךָ֙ וּבְלֶכְתְּךָ֣ בַדֶּ֔רֶךְ וּֽבְשׇׁכְבְּךָ֖ וּבְקוּמֶֽךָ׃ (כ) וּכְתַבְתָּ֛ם עַל־מְזוּז֥וֹת בֵּיתֶ֖ךָ וּבִשְׁעָרֶֽיךָ׃ (כא) לְמַ֨עַן יִרְבּ֤וּ יְמֵיכֶם֙ וִימֵ֣י בְנֵיכֶ֔ם עַ֚ל הָֽאֲדָמָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר נִשְׁבַּ֧ע יְהֹוָ֛ה לַאֲבֹתֵיכֶ֖ם לָתֵ֣ת לָהֶ֑ם כִּימֵ֥י הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם עַל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃ {ס}

(יג) וִיהֵי אִם קַבָּלָא תְקַבְּלוּן לְפִקּוֹדַי דִּי אֲנָא מְפַקֵּד יָתְכוֹן יוֹמָא דֵין לְמִרְחַם יָת יְיָ אֱלָהֲכוֹן וּלְמִפְלַח קֳדָמוֹהִי בְּכָל לִבְּכוֹן וּבְכָל נַפְשְׁכוֹן: (יד) וְאֶתֵּן מְטַר אַרְעֲכוֹן בְּעִדָּנֵיהּ בַּכִּיר וְלַקִּישׁ וְתִכְנוֹשׁ עִבּוּרָךְ וְחַמְרָךְ וּמִשְׁחָךְ: (טו) וְאֶתֵּן עִשְׂבָּא בְחַקְלָךְ לִבְעִירָךְ וְתֵיכוּל וְתִשְׂבָּע: (טז) אִסְתַּמָּרוּ לְכוֹן דִּילְמָא יִטְעוּן לִבְּכוֹן וְתִסְטוּן וְתִפְלְחוּן לְטַעֲוַת עַמְמַיָּא וְתִסְגְּדוּן לְהוֹן: (יז) וְיִתְקוֹף רָגְזָא דַיְיָ בְּכוֹן וְיֵחוֹד יָת שְׁמַיָּא וְלָא יְהֵי מִטְרָא וְאַרְעָא לָא תִתֵּן יָת עֲלַלְתַּהּ וְתֵיבְדוּן בִּפְרִיעַ מֵעַל אַרְעָא טַבְתָא דַּיְיָ יָהֵב לְכוֹן: (יח) וּתְשַׁוּוּן יָת פִּתְגָּמַי אִלֵּין עַל לִבְּכוֹן וְעַל נַפְשְׁכוֹן וְתִקְטְרוּן יָתְהוֹן לְאָת עַל יֶדְכוֹן וִיהוֹן לִתְפִלִּין בֵּין עֵינֵיכוֹן: (יט) וְתַלְּפוּן יָתְהוֹן יָת בְּנֵיכוֹן לְמַלָּלָא בְהוֹן בְּמִתְּבָךְ בְּבֵיתָךְ וּבִמְהָכָךְ בְּאָרְחָא וּבְמִשְׁכְּבָךְ וּבִמְקִימָךְ: (כ) וְתִכְתְּבִנּוּן עַל מְזוּזְיָן וְתִקְבְּעִנּוּן בְּסִפֵּי בֵיתָךְ וּבְתַרְעָךְ: (כא) בְּדִיל דְּיִסְגּוּן יוֹמֵיכוֹן וְיוֹמֵי בְנֵיכוֹן עַל אַרְעָא דִּי קַיִּים יְיָ לַאֲבָהָתְכוֹן לְמִתַּן לְהוֹן כְּיוֹמֵי שְׁמַיָּא עַל אַרְעָא:

13. It shall be, if you faithfully accept My commandments that I command you today, to love Hashem your God and to serve before Him with all your heart and with all your soul, 14. I will give rain of your land in its (proper) time – the early rain and the late rain. You shall gather your grain, and your wine and your oil. 15. I will give grass in your field for your cattle, and you will eat and you will be satisfied. 16. Guard yourselves lest your hearts go astray[2] and you turn and you serve the errors of the nations and bow to them. 17. Hashem’s anger will intensify against you; He will shut the heavens and there will not be rain. The land will not give its produce, and you will quickly perish from upon the good land that Hashem gives to you. 18. You shall place these, My words, on your heart and on your soul; tie them as a sign on your hand and they shall be for tefillin[3] between your eyes. 19. Teach them to your children, to speak in them when you sit in your house and when you walk on the way, and when you lie down and when you get up, 20. and write them on mezuzahs[4] and attach them to the doorposts of your house and on your gates, 21. in order that your days and the days of your children will increase on the land that Hashem swore to your fathers to give them, like the days of the heavens on the earth.
