8. And of Levi he said, “The[1] tumim and the urim you dressed for the man who was found pious before You, whom You tested at the test[2] and he was complete, (and whom) You examined at the waters of contention and he was found faithful, 9. who didn’t have mercy on his father and on his mother, when they were guilty by the law, He didn’t favor his brothers and his children,[3] because they observed the watch of Your word[4] and didn’t change Your covenant. 10. These are fit that they teach Your laws to Yaakov and Your Torah to Israel. They will place spice incense You before You[5] and burnt offerings[6] for favor on Your altar. 11. Hashem, bless his possessions[7] and accept with favor the offering of his hands. Break the loins of his haters[8] and of his adversaries[9] that they not rise.”

12. Of Binyamin he said: “Beloved of Hashem, He shall dwell securely beside Him. He will shield him all the day, and in his land (God’s) presence will dwell.
[1] Rather than “Your” (with a capital Y, referring to God).
[2] Rather than “at Massah.”
[3] In Hebrew, he doesn’t “recognize his brothers” or “acknowledge his children.” Onkelos consolidates them.
[4] Rather than “Your utterance.”
[5] Onkelos eschews the anthropomorphism “in Your nose.”
[6] Literally, “whole (offerings),” because the burnt offering is completely consumed. (See Rashi.)
[7] Rather than “his army” (according to some interpretations).
[8] Chumash: “his risers,” i.e., those who rise against him.
[9] Your current translator would have used “haters” for the Chumash here, had Onkelos not used it to replace “risers.”
