3,361. Terumah That Falls Into Terumah

Terumos 14:14

If a seah of ritually unclean terumah falls into 100 seah of ritually clean terumah, it is nullified because it’s the minority; the mixture is to be eaten in ritual purity. If it fell into less than 100 seah of ritually clean terumah, the mixture is left to decay.

Terumos 14:15

Let’s say that there are two baskets of secular produce. A seah of terumah falls into one of them, but we don’t know which. Subsequently, another seah of terumah falls into one of them, but we don’t know which. In such a case, we assume that the second seah fell into the same basket as the first, because we associate one accident with the other. However, if we don’t know into which basket the first seah of terumah fell but we do know into which the second seah fell, we don’t assume that the first one fell into the same basket as the second. Rather, each accident is evaluated independently.
