3,395. The Completion of Oil and of Dried Figs
Hilchos Maaser 3:15
Oil is considered completed when it goes down into the vat. Even though the oil has gone down to the vat, one may still take from the basket, the millstone, and the boards and stones of the press. One may add such oil to hot food in a small plate or a large pot because it won’t cook in a second vessel (i.e., one that is a stage removed from the fire). If the food is so hot that one would burn his hand on it, then he may not add such oil to it because it will cook.
Hilchos Maaser 3:16
A cake of dried figs is considered completed once it has been smoothed. Dried figs are considered completed once they have been crushed. If such figs were put into a vessel for storage, they are considered completed once the outside of the vessel has been smoothed by hand. If one was stuffing dried figs into a cask, or into a cake at the mouth of a vessel, and the cask breaks or the vessel opens, he may not eat them until they have been tithed.
