3,486. Tithing Gifts to the Needy
Hilchos Maaser 14:7
Let’s say that nine wholesalers buy bread from ten different bakers. Since one of them bought bread from two bakers, whoever buys bread from any of the nine must tithe each shape separately.
Hilchos Maaser 14:8
If someone buys bread from a needy person, or if a needy person was given slices of bread or slices of a fig cake, he should tithe each one separately. If he was given dates and dried figs, he should gather them all together for tithing. This is the case when he was given a large gift; if he was given a small gift, he must tithe each one separately.
