3,501. Second Tithe of Things Not Normally Eaten
Hilchos Maaser Sheini and Neta Revai 2:13
The previous halacha applies when the produce was brought into Jerusalem with the intention that the city would not “receive” it; if such a condition was not made, then since it entered the city and is ritually clean under Biblical law, it is “received” by the city walls and may not be removed. This is because a second-degree form of impurity doesn’t convey impurity to something else under Biblical law.
Hilchos Maaser Sheini and Neta Revai 2:14
One may eat second tithe clover while it’s fresh and fit to eat; the same is true of second tithe vicia. If one made dough of them, it may be brought into Jerusalem and then removed because it’s not considered produce (since people don’t normally eat these things). If it was rendered unclean in Jerusalem, it may be redeemed and eaten elsewhere.
