#67: Blessing the Children (Part 2)

  1. One whose children will not be present on Friday night at the meal, such as if they are at a friend’s house or away for Shabbat, may bless their children on Friday afternoon or earlier on Friday night (see https://www.yeshiva.org.il/ask/103009).
  2. Many sources addressing the custom of blessing the children refer to the father blessing the child (e.g., Siddur of R. Yaakov Emden), but the mother may fulfill the custom as welI (see Pele Yo’etz, entry for berachot).
