#148: The End of Shabbat (Part 3)
- The practice of many communities in the United States is to end Shabbat approximately 42 minutes after sunset (R. Mordechai Willig, https://www.yutorah.org/lectures/lecture.cfm/799330; this was also the time determined by Agudath Israel). Some follow R. Moshe Feinstein, according to which Shabbat ends between 40 to 50 minutes after sunset (Igrot Moshe, O.C. 4:62).
- Some individuals follow the opinion of Rabbeinu Tam. Most of those who follow Rabbeinu Tam wait a set amount of 72 minutes past sunset, though some calculate the time similar to the manner described in the previous post.
