3,603. Who Gets the First Fruits

If someone puts aside first fruits to bring to Jerusalem personally, he may not send them with a messenger. However, if he picked them with the intention to send them with a messenger, then he may do so.

Hilchos Bikkurim 3:1

First fruits are given to the kohanim who on are the duty roster when they’re brought. The kohanim divide the first fruits as they do the offerings in the Temple. As already discussed (Terumah 15:20), first fruits are called “terumah,” so a non-kohein who eats them anywhere is liable to the penalty of death from Heaven, assuming that he ate them after they entered the Jerusalem city walls.
