One-Liners
Some questions don't require elaborate answers.
------------------------------
Q. My mezuzah was stolen yesterday. What should I do?
A. There's not really much you can do other than replace it.
------------------------------
Q. Why did God decide to build the Temple on the spot where the brothers met?
A. He didn't. That story is a legend that came about long, long after the Temple was built (and destroyed). It has no basis in Jewish Scripture, Talmud, Midrash or history.
------------------------------
Q. Why are there no Daf Yomi lessons on Chulin page 1?
A. There's no page 1 in tractates of the Babylonian Talmud. (Page 1 is the frontispiece; the text starts on page 2.)
------------------------------
(During the Covid lockdown:)
Q. Should I touch the mezuzah at the Jewish hospital when recovering from my surgery or should I pass? Covid-19 is a concern, but I believe in my religion.
A. There's no obligation to touch the mezuzah when you pass through a doorway, so if Covid is a concern, I wouldn't touch it. We're supposed to do things to protect our health - that's actually a mitzvah!
------------------------------
Q. When is chatzos tomorrow?
A. That depends on where you live.
------------------------------
Q. Brocho on corn flakes?
A. Hoadama.
