3,616. Bringing First Fruits Between Succos and Chanukah
Hilchos Bikkurim 4:12
If a person separated first fruits but then his field’s source of water dried up or the tree from which the fruits were picked was chopped down, he brings the first fruits but doesn’t recite the “confession.” The is because he’s like someone who doesn’t own land, since it was ruined.
Hilchos Bikkurim 4:13
If someone brings first fruits between Succos and Chanukah, he does so without reciting the “confession,” even if he put the fruits aside before Succos. This is derived from Deuteronomy 26:11: “You shall rejoice in all the good,” meaning that the “confession” is only recited in the time of celebration, which is from Shavuos through Succos. Everyone other than the exceptions listed in the past few halachos brings first fruits with the “confession.”
