3,846. The Branches of the Menorah

Hilchos Beis HaBechirah 3:7

If of one of the seven branches of the Menorah is missing, the others can’t be used; the same is true of the lamps. This is the case regardless of whether the Menorah was made of gold or of other metals. The lamps of the Menorah were permanently attached to the branches.

The six lamps on the six branches that extend from the Menorah all faced the middle lamp, which was on the stem of the Menorah. That middle lamp – called the western lamp – faced the Holy of Holies.
