#272: Making Jello on Shabbat
1. Making jello on Shabbat involves similar issues as making ice, as for both, one indirectly causes a transformation from liquid to solid, which may involve the prohibition of “nolad” for Ashkenazim.
2. Many Ashkenazi poskim therefore rule that one should not make jello on Shabbat for this reason, though if it is made, one may eat it (Shevet HaLevi 7:41). As with making ice, Sephardic poskim, and some Ashkenazi ones, would be more lenient to allow making jello.
