3,978. Entering the Ezras Yisroel Inappropriately
Hilchos Bias HaMikdash 1:16
The laws of someone who enters the area from the altar and beyond are the same as the laws of one who leaves from there. Specifically, if a kohein drank a reviis of wine (about 3.3 ounces) between the Ulam and the altar, or if he tore his garments there, and then he went out, he is subject to the penalty of lashes. Similarly, if he performed the service on his way out, he is subject to a divine death penalty.
Hilchos Bias HaMikdash 1:17
It is likewise prohibited for anyone – kohein or Yisroel – to enter anywhere in the Temple, from the Israelite courtyard inward, after drinking wine, intoxicated from other beverages, with hair grown long or with torn clothing. While there’s no specific prohibition to this effect, it would be disrespectful to the Temple to enter it disheveled. If, however, a Yisroel with long hair braids it neatly, then he may enter the Israelite courtyard.
