#297: Borer with Non-Food Items - Games
1. According to the strict opinion mentioned in the previous post (which we said was the more accepted one), the rules of Borer apply to games, such as board games and card games. When putting pieces or cards away that are mixed together, one should be careful not to sort them or organize them in any way, since that would be considered sorting for a later time.
2. When setting up the game, one should make sure to either put pieces/cards down one by one (which avoids Borer), or make sure to take the ones one wants rather than the ones one doesn’t want.
3. Some are more lenient with cards than with other games, but R. Asher Weiss and others recommend being strict. For more info, see https://halachipedia.com/index.php?title=Borer.
