701. Vessels as Private Domains
Vessels can be private domains. This includes such things as boats, wooden cabinets and beehives provided that they are at least four handbreadths by four handbreadths (about a foot on each side) and ten handbreadths high (about 30”).
The thickness of a private domain’s walls are considered like the private domain. If they are sufficient to distinguish the area, they certainly distinguish themselves. The space over a private domain is considered a private domain all the way up to the sky. Conversely, the space ten handbreadths (about 30”) above a public domain is considered an exempt area (makom patur).
