206. Drinking Water

32:16 One should avoid eating too much fruit; this is true when they are dried and especially when they are wet. Before fruit is fully ripened, it can be injurious to one’s health. Carob and acidic fruits are bad in large quantities, so one should only eat a little of these in summer or in hot climates. Figs, grapes, and pomegranate are always good, both wet and dry, so one can eat his fill of these. Of course, healthy though they are, one’s diet should not consist only of these.

32:17 Clear, fresh water is the most natural and healthy beverage for a person. Proper hydration is important for good digestion. Cold water is best, though it shouldn’t be too cold. As with all good things, one must be careful not to overdo things. One should not drink before eating and only a little while eating.
